Situation
Our client, a consumer electronics company, was looking to hire an experienced executive to take on the role of Chief Operating Officer. The company’s growth strategy included the acquisition of like businesses. To manage their growth, they needed a skilled individual with demonstrated experience in mergers and acquisitions in the consumer goods industry to manage the integration.

Approach
We targeted companies in the consumer goods marketplace and found several candidates with substantial experience in carrying out and managing business acquisitions. Our short list was narrowed down to two candidates with extensive experience and success in this area. One in particular was an exceptional candidate with an impressive career in the consumer packaged goods industry and extensive experience across all business functions.

Result
With significant success in managing major acquisitions, including leading valuations, due diligence and integrations, the hired candidate demonstrated excellent marketing, financial and operational acumen. The hire proved to be a good fit for both the candidate and the client. The new COO worked with senior leadership team in the successful acquisition of two new businesses. Furthermore, when our client was acquired by a larger consumer electronics company, the hired candidate went on to become COO of the acquiring organization.
