Graduating from Ryerson with a Bachelor of Arts in Radio & Television Arts, Andrew began his career working at City TV and then made his way to the advertising world starting off in production. He went back to university at Western and took business courses; then, returned to the Agency world this time in account service. Over the next number of years Andrew worked at several large Advertising Agencies rising to the level of Account Director. He completed the Institute of Communication Agencies’ Certified Advertising Agency Practitioner Designation. Additionally, over the past few years, he has completed 5 marketing courses with the Canadian Marketing Association and is one course away from receiving his Certified Marketing Specialist Designation.
In 1995, the economic structure of his parent’s old homeland of Budapest, Hungary had shifted significantly to a very positive place. The fall of the Berlin wall in East Germany in late 1989 meant that the Russians army and influence was gone from most of Eastern Europe and was swept from Hungary in late 1991 Slowly, Western investors came back to Budapest and the country became an open, market economy starting in 1993. A rush of Western advertising agencies came to set-up shop in Budapest in 1995 to serve a rash of western companies that established marketing offices in Budapest from: Proctor & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, Samsung and many others. Speaking and writing fluent Hungarian – thanks to his parent’s insistence, Andrew and his new bride embarked on a new professional and personal life at Saatchi & Saatchi Budapest. He first went as an Account Director, rising to Group Account Director and finally, Co-Managing Director. There, he helped grow the Agency from 40 to over 65 people, launched many western brands in the Hungarian marketing including: Dunkin’ Donuts, Pizza Hut, KFC, Head & Shoulders, Oil of Olaz, OB Tampons, and many other well-known western brands.
After those years in the Hungarian capital it was time to come back to Canada and Andrew returned to the Agency world. After a few years, he decided to enter the recruitment world and joined Chad Management Group in 2000.
Over the next 15 years, Andrew carved out a recruitment practise in direct marketing and then, CRM, loyalty and data analytics working with large loyalty coalition programs including Loyalty One and Aeroplan. As well, he was instrumental in placing senior executives at new and existing loyalty programs at: Rogers, Fairmont, Sobeys, AIMIA, Bond Brand Loyalty and others.
By 2005 - DM was superseded by digital and his recruitment work pivoted to working with digital departments within Clients and with digital groups and divisions on the Agency side and at start-ups.
In 2015, Andrew joined radar head hunters, a division of Mandrake as Vice President. He continued in his areas of expertise in: digital, social media, CRM, loyalty and data working with a large and wide group of Clients from digital Agencies, Telco, Retail, Digital Start-Ups, Digital Media, Loyalty and many others. In late 2017, radarhh was folded into the larger Mandrake family as part of Mandrake Human Capital.
Over the past 3 years, Andrew has worked with a wide variety of Clients from: digital start-ups, marketing driven companies such as Telco’s, banks to loyalty and CRM companies to a range of Agencies from pure digital, fully integrated Agencies and media buying Agencies.
Andrew is a proud father of two daughters and his family lives in Markham, Ontario. As well, he is an avid skier, bicyclist and an improving golfer.
